BELL Grants Faculty Form

Bulldog Experience Learning Liaison Grants: Faculty/Unit Support

The purpose of BELL Grants is to provide financial support to students, faculty and units for undergraduate experiential learning engagements. The support provided to faculty/units should assist them with creating or expanding an initial or culminating engagement. To apply for a BELL Grant, all parts of the application form (found below) must be completed. Faculty applying must be fulltime employees; faculty applying can be either 9-month or 12-month employees. Faculty/Units can request $3,500 to $5,000 to support the creation or expansion of an experiential learning engagement.

Preference will be given to culminating engagements and first-time applicants. Faculty/Units may only receive funding for a particular engagement once. Any subsequent funding to the same faculty/unit must be for a significantly different engagement. All faculty/unit applications must include a requirement that students who complete the experiential learning engagement will submit either an initial or culminating Bulldog Experience reflection upon completion of the proposed engagement to the Office of Bulldog Experience (bulldogexperience@qep.msstate.edu). The reflection prompts for this requirement can be found on the Bulldog Experience Website www.qep.msstate.edu.

Faculty/Unit recipients will be required to complete training offered by the Office of Bulldog Experience. Faculty/Unit recipients will also be required to submit a detailed report at the conclusion of the proposed timeline with supporting documentation which describes attainment of the goals and outcomes as stated in the application and how the funds were spent.

BELL Grants are funded with state appropriation 10 funds, which limits what the funds can be used towards. When possible, the Office of Bulldog Experience will procure goods and services instead of transferring funds to the applicant’s department. If tangible objects are being obtained, the Office of Bulldog Experience will transfer the items to the funded department’s inventory. Although it is not an exhaustive list, below are a few examples of items which can be purchased with these funds. If you have specific questions about whether an experiential learning opportunity can be funded, reach out to the Office of Bulldog Experience for more information.

  • Food as part of an experiential learning event

  • Travel expenses to get to and from the experiential learning activity

  • Equipment

  • Licenses and software

  • Educational materials, e.g., books

The deadline for Faculty/Unit BELL Pilot Grant applications for the fall 2024 semester is March 31st.
