Bulldog Recognition
Mississippi State University is committed to helping students on their life-long learning journey. As part of this, MSU embarked on a mission to guarantee that every undergraduate student had the opportunity to engage in experiential learning through curricular and co-curricular activities. The Office of Bulldog Experience worked with the campus community to ensure that after students engaged in activities, they took the next step in making meaning of their experiences by engaging in reflective practices. As you near the end of your undergraduate experience, we would like to recognize you for all the effort you have put into experiential learning at MSU!
To complete your application, you will be asked to identify five experiences that were meaningful to you during your collegiate career. These can be internships, volunteer work, class or research projects, leadership roles, co-curricular activities, or any hands-on learning experiences that can be tied back to academic learning in the classroom. For each experience, you will be asked to provide a brief explanation of what made it meaningful to you and how it contributed to connecting learning in the classroom to new experiences. It may be helpful to look back at your previous reflections to do this.
In addition to your five meaningful and beneficial experiences, we ask that you share your Bulldog Journey with us. To share your Bulldog Journey, you need to create a cohesive narrative of your experiences at Mississippi State University. The narrative can be a voice-over presentation, video, or multi-media deliverable using written words and photos or other visual elements. Within this narrative, you should introduce yourself, including your major, and highlight how your curricular and co-curricular activities have formed a unique and marketable skill set for your field of study. Think of this narrative as an elevator pitch that you would share with graduate schools or potential employers to showcase the totality of YOUR Bulldog Experience.
Video and voice over presentations should be 3-5 minutes long and written narratives should be 600-800 words.
